This project provides power tools and safety equipment for volunteer maintenance of the 175 miles of Regional Trail Corporation trails in Allegheny, Westmoreland, and Fayette Counties. The Regional Trail Corporation is a partnership between ten volunteer trail groups that collectively manage and maintain over 175 miles of rails-to-trails between Pittsburgh and Cumberland, Maryland. All maintenance operations are performed by dedicated volunteers, who need power tools to handle brush and trees near and on the trail. The grant from the Trail Volunteer Fund provides chain saws, pole saws, weed trimmers, a blower, and safety equipment for use by volunteers in maintaining these trails. Grant awarded June 2009 |
